God bless 'em all! What a generation!

My father and mother were on their honeymoon and turned on one of the morning radio programs and heard the news announcement about the bombing. Can ya imagine? o_O

All the best,
Dan

Dan, God Bless your Father and Mother and Wow, what a way to remember a honeymoon.

Yes, "What a generation".

My Uncle has been laid to rest for over 30 years now, but before he died he related his experience (to me and my brother) walking out of Sunday morning church and seeing the Japanese planes strafing the Pearl Harbor area. It was mentioned in his obituary that he was a Pearl Harbor Veteran/Survivor. My Mother had a snap-shot B&W photo of Leonardo standing guard (after the attack) in down-town Honolulu and you can see all the business signage behind him. The picture is long gone, but I can remember him dressed in khaki with the shallow tin helmet holding a '03 Springfield rifle. I wish I had the photo to post but no luck with that.

There was a good programme on the radio today (C4 198LW) There was a bit about an amatuer pilot who got bounced by zeroes on the day (he thought they were US planes practising) but due to his flying skills got away and landed safely.

my great uncle (grandmothers brother) was in the front magazine of the Arizona, where he is still. J.Q. Davis S1C...his friends were all on leave, he was sick so he stayed on the ship.
My brother was able to take our grandmother to the monument in hawaii a few years ago to see where her brother is interred and touch his name on the monument..all these years and she had never been.
