Dear Planeteers!

Again (unfortunately!) a nice project has come to an end ...:

Title: Artjom the Cossack
Scale: 1:10
Resin
Sculptor: Bust Pavol Ovecka ("Offo") - with a few changes / additions in the face by me
Cossack banner: Myself
Painting: Also by myself (oils, Acrylics and gold-/silver inks)

The bust is unique - you can not buy it!

The purpose of the project was not the most accurate reproduction of the role model from the Repin painting!

Rather, I wanted - based on the many hints that are hidden in the painting by Repin and can only be seen at extreme neckline enlargements - research as completely as possible the original clothing from the 17th century and paint these picturesquely as true to the original.

Our friend wears one

- Russian lambskin cap ("Papacha") with afabric wing ..:

- around the neck a silver cross (russian-orthodox) of Russian origin ...:

- a Ukrainian peasant shirt ("Vyshywanka") with embroidery, which was common in the 17th century only in a very specific region ...:

- a caftan of Ottoman origin with floral embroidery ...:

- a gold-embroidered sash made in one of the - in the 17th century - most famous factories of the city of Slutsk ...:

- a polish - inside fur-lined - coat of polish origin (called "Kontusz") ...:

As a Gimmik for the pedestal, I made "Artjom" a scaled-down banner of the Russian Orthodox Church, which is also based on - well implemented - historical templates from the 17th century ...:

I have not had much fun as of this project for a long time, because - as I like it! - the search for historical models and their painted representation kept the balance!

I hope you like "Artjom"!

Cheers
