Possibly my favorite aspect of figure modelling is the scene or pose of military figures not doing military things - like your rider helping the horse to water, or a figure having a smoke before the battle there is a sublime figure set in D Day era - US GI laid in ruin of a house window reading a letter from home. While I admire the figures in battle or combat it really is the scenes of respite and relaxation that I find inspire me the most.

Thats why I really like your figure here. Well done.

Cheers Adrian! I've done scenes of soldiers bored out of their minds just killing time and scenes of bloody hand-to-hand combat, so I like both. There are a lot of scenes or faces or something else that for reasons I couldn't possibly describe I just like. All of these are interesting and fun to make. I was doing a lot of commissions for several years and, although the collectors were generous and fun to work with, I kinda got tired of doing scenes that were in their heads, that they had described to me. I've been alive long enough to know never to say never, but I doubt I'll do those again.

This setting of a Light Horseman and his horse was originally painted by Ron Marshall. I've posted the painting previously, and want to give him full credit for the inspiration.

All the best,
Dan
