I currently have a few miniature projects and a sculpting blog that is being put together, there is nothing to show just yet. Here are a few of the 2D things I'm working on and or already have finished. The indian drawing is for a set of Woodland Indian body painting schemes. These will be part of the instructions for a Bushy Run vignette that is going to be released in the near future. This is a fun little project that easily could have taken a life of it's own. This figure is one of three that I'm doing. The scheme represents a man that has his body painted red with black stripes and dots. The painting is of a soldier from the 2nd Virginia regiment, C.1779. It is 5 X 7" and done in acrylics.

Hi Gary..the idea for the body painting patterns is very interesting, one can never have too much guidance.
Your painting is wonderful and your attention to detail, and light and shade is beautiful and is always a pleasure to see.

Guys, I appreciate the kind comments. Though I'm going through a rather HUGE sculpting slump I think I'm finally rebounding...slowly. ~Gary

Well Gary, looking at your painting above, it is very obvious that you have a fine understanding of physical proportions, anatomy, and a thorough knowledge of the way things should be portrayed in order to make them, not only accurate, but attractive and appealing as well. This 'sculpting slump' really is a positive, as it is obvious you are enjoying what you are doing, and it can only improve your overall (and already very considerable) skill when you do decide the time is right for another sculpt.

Personally, I can't wait to see what you come up with and how you approach it, wether it is 2D or 3D, it's always a pleasure to see.

Roy.

Hello Gary,

I like your body painting drawing project a lot.

It reminds me of the so-called 'Walker drawings' whereas James Walker, an anthropologist working on the Pine Ridge reservation recorded a wealth of information on the Sioux soldier societies by giving 'blank' drawings of a naked man to his Lakota informants to add body painting and other attributes.

It would prove to be very useful to the modellers. In any case, it sure does tempt me. ;)

Cheers,
Quang

Roy, Thanks for the kind words. I do enjoy painting a lot, although sculpting is also something I enjoy.

Quang, Thank you. I just finished the body painting project, minus the little bit of text I have to write yet. ~Gary
