A Great Loss to the Figure World

Just spoke to big Davie Mitchell, he was horrified to hear about Pete. Davie is in hospital so asked me to post his thoughts on here. He had, like me, met Pete and Moz a few times at Euro and had been taken by his warmth and friendly manner. Pete will be much missed, both for his skill and his friendship.

I can't believe it. What a huge loss. Pete had a very cool energy about him which will be missed. His talent is undeniable. He has been and always will be one of my favorite sculptors.

I will look at his sculpts and remember him almost every day.

I`ve still not come to terms with sudden loss of my friend but I would like to pay tribute to him here.

Many will have known Pete and he has some good friends here on PF, the wider community will know his work.

Pete was immensely talented and had a flair for design and an imagination which was second to none.

Pete was great fun to be with and we shared some `interesting` nights out, he was well known among my friends here and Pete stayed at my home for quite a while in which time he became very popular, it is the mark of the man that among my friends here in Coventry there was a stunned silence when the news was heard.

Pete was one of the craziest people I ever met, and one of the most generous. When I first started sculpting Pete was always first to come forward with advice and guidance and I owe a lot to him for that.

His family have been through tough times lately and I just can not contemplate what effect this must be having on them.

My thoughts are with his family especially his Mum.

Goodbye my friend, I shall inform the women of Coventry that it is now safe to go out again.

I have like all of you been totally floored by this news.

Pete was a one of a kind...diamond cutter nothing sharper than that!!!!!

As funny as f..k and always up for a giggle.

Euro as ever was when i used to see him...like many of us. Like del says southcliffe on a sunday mornin will never be the same at breakfast. Nor saturday night in the bar !!!!!. Last year as with the previous one pete would come to my stand and merrily drink alot of the offerings on hand at the stall.

In memory of pete...this year i willl have a bottle that he particularly liked. I ask all that knew him and can attend to come and enjoy a moment of remembrance whenever you can.

Moz if you read this tell us your tales of those euro weekenders from times gone by...from cadre miniatures to emmart miniatures pete was truley inspirational and funny on and off the field

He loss has truley reiterated to me the fragility of life and to value what i have now

This may be a dumb idea. I know Pete was a great sculptor from the ACW fig he just finished. But I, and I expect many others on PF (especially in other countries), am not familiar with the body of his work. That's often the way here as only recently have manufacturers started posting the sculptor's name on their boxes. Perhaps we as a group could post photos of some of his work in this, or perhaps in another memorial string as a bit of a salute? If you think it appropriate that is.

I think it would be a fitting tribute to Pete Morton from his mates here on Planet Figure if we put together a special tribute to his work as a sculptor.

Those of you who knew Pete personally may think of another more fitting way to remember him, but for those us who weren't lucky enough to know him personally, a pictorial tribute of his works on Planet Figure seems an approriate tribute to his artistry and as a way of honouring his contribution to our hobby.

Given his prodigious output over many years, I hope we'll see some great examples of Pete's sculpting talent on display.

I'd like to pay my own tribute to Pete.

Not only was he was a great sculptor and an inspiration, but he was prolific and truly gifted!
From his days as Cadre right up to the present he has consistently raised the bar for us all. Never more than with superb 200mm Union Figure, in my opinion among his best work!
He was a true artist, but you know I don't think even Pete knew just how talented he was!

But the real tribute is to Pete the man!
For me he was generous, loyal, kind and honest! He was one of a kind! When you hear folks say they broke the mould when they made him. In Pete's case it was true!
Some may say thank the lord, because to have 2 Pete's would have been a nightmare... But for me it would have meant twice as much fun!!!

When I think of Pete I see a series of sketches, usually involving copious amounts of drink and belly laughs... Normally at The Southcliff Bar on the Friday night or maybe the wee hours of Saturday Morning!
I won't detail them because most are not for public consumption... But if there is such a thing as heaven, he will be sitting on his cloud right now reading this and laughing out loud!

My last testiment is small and simple, but it speaks volumes for me. "I think of Pete, and I can't help but smile, a beaming smile"...!

I only met Pete once, last year at Euro when he came over and introduced himself, but his reputation in this hobby went before him and his legacy will remain.

My sincere condolences to all his family and friends.

He will be missed very much by everyone that had the plesure of having a drink with him. when I chatted to him on staurday he was full of beans at the new figure he had just finished for us and getting ready for the third one. he was looking forward to the future and doing more work on Ellie's range. when we get the latest one through we will make it a tribute to Pete and it will be another outstanding sculpt from him to the modeling community.

Carl is right pete will be sat up there with a pint in his hand smiling down on us all. "Good Night and God Bless to you mate it was a pleasure to have known you. we all wish you could have stayed around for one last round"
