Frank...

people don't want to hear that the only needs to improve is a lot of work and trained eyes connected to the brain... people needs the special trick or special colors.

I told you that because my experience ... people always go to buy the exact color also if I explained that they can have the same result in a different way

As a 'new' figure modeller/painter, but a long time aircraft/AFV/vehicle modeller, I am always amazed at the specific products that you can now buy. How did we all manage before they came on the market?
The explosion of washes is enough to confuse anyone new to the hobby - meanwhile I continue making my own washes, the way I have been doing for a long time, soft pastels shaved, washing up liquid & tap water...................
The use of oils is a new field for me, the ( comparatively ) small palette I have is a challenge - how to mix a certain colour, and be able to repeat it - that is where the specific product may score! - but the old masters managed with limited choice, so I think I should give it a chance.
I've just done a test/review on AK interactive 3rd Generation Acrylics - touted as the answer to all your paint problems - they're good, but not good enough to ditch all your tried & tested favourites, but I bet you'll read reviews that will urge you to do this. - I'm always cynical about reviews, you never really know the full back story. I left one forum, because I criticised a review - the post was removed - the reason? - if criticism appeared, then they wouldn't get any more free samples from the maker..............
Apologies for the minor rant!

I'd be more than happy if you questioned any of my reviews. And I completely know where you're coming from about people when you question their reviews.

As far as I'm concerned, if I'm not happy to stand by what I say in a review and be honest about what I see and think then I shouldn't be doing it. Plus I've found that companies appreciate the negative side of things too as it gives them direction on what they could improve to make their product even better.

Fawning, uncritical praise is not a "review" in my book Dave if something clearly isn't spot-on perfect.
