A small step for mankind but a giant leap for me..

Hello Figureteers!

This might come as a shock to some of the orthodox figureteers here. Just sit down and breath deep and calmly before reading further.

I actually do other things than figures, in this case a Tamiya Stug III B in 1/48.
However as there are more to be wished for when it comes to figures in that scale Ive deciede to convert another Tamiya figure from the Kettenkraftrad set in the very same scale.

I made new armature arms from wire but used the torso and the head with the "boot" cap as they were. Ive also used the hands in the kit. I did add Magic Sculpt for basic shape and when dry I added some more to make out some folds. Carved away some, added more and so on until I finally had a figure I could live with. Yes its not a Latorre sculpt, I know that.
Also as can been seen on the second picture most of the arms will not been seen that well.

I think a got the proportions right as well as the anatomy but I have to research folds more for next subject. The headphones where made of plastic card with the help of a punch and die.

Id like to hear opinions, especially constructive critism as this is something I find hard and I really want to improve.

Tamiya figures?? Blasphamy!! :lol: :lol: Just kidding
It looks ok to me. The only thing I can see is that the sleeves might be a littletoo "thick". Meaning that where they meet the wrist might be a bit too mcuh material. But by the look of where you put him on the Stug, you might not be able to see the sleeve anyway.

I like the headphones.

Acctually, I think it looks very good. Lou have a valid point about the thickness but that is easily corrected with a sanding stick or some needle files. Other then that it is not really much to critizise on as its mainy the tamiya torso,although the head set is nicely done.

I am acctually sculpting a 1/48th scale German officer just for fun, Bill gave me a mannequin so I thought I would give it a go!

It looks like 48th scale is the next big thing, and the Tamiya Armor kits in this scale are acctually very nice.

The Stug III and some others look very good. However the Tiger I am not satisfied with re the quality because it's oversimplified in my humble opinion. They are not exactly cheap. And I don't understand the metal chassis thing at all ...

Then again the Schwimmwagen is well detailed and "cute".

Ok, Ill try to push my luck and post a bigger picture in a few day when the etch is on. Been folding 11 toolclamps in 1/48 for over and hour tonight. The folding was easy but the cleaning up took some time.
