why Acrylics metals

There are other options, humbrol metal cote works a treat, shade with h/ black
applied with washes, high light with gold finger silver and spray with citidal
varnish to bring it all together.

Vallejo for me, just NOT the alcohol based ones. I find them easier to blend and can get more 'depth' with them. Metal cote is good for larger areas but can be tricky with small bits as you need to buff it when dry.

I have had the best luck with Games Workshop, they cover great but they are expensive for how much you get. I tried the Privateer Press P3 and I had a hard time with them they were too thick and did not cover well, when I thinned them down and they didn't play well with paint from different manufacturers.

For me the best are Vallejo Air (!), they are a great difference to standard Vallejo and they are superior to Vallejo Alcohol, Tamiya and Revell Aqua. They does not give a "close" metallic shine like all these metallics which have to be polished or some of the so-called printers inks. For these needs I take Humbrol or Kreul, but of course they are enamels.

andrea makes a very good silver and so does Turner. Turners bronze is out of this world real looking. I like to use it as my base coat for gold then highlite it with a bright gold color.

I agree with Mike. I have the Andrea Silver set. It comes with silver (highlight) , steel (base) and pewter (shadow) paints as well as black, brown and a very dark blue ink. Looks really impressive for acrylic paints and works very well.

The Reaper Master Series Paint metallics are quite good as well. They are acrylics and come in the same style eyedropper bottles that Andrea and Vallejo use. I use them for chain mail and yellow metals on metal and resin kits. I tend to buff white metals on metal kits. Check gaming stores.
