Every time i try model colour thru the brush it clogs .
This time it seems mega ,cleaned everything out but only getting air thru cant even get water to spray out.
Other symptoms paint backing up to the trigger mechanism .

Brush type Iwata HP-B plus

what do you to thin it ?
compared to model air, model color is very very thick and needs quite a lot of thinning. do you clean tip after each spraying ?

I have been using water alex for thinner but the tip seems totally clogged .
I am using liquid reamer to try and clear which generally sorts out enamels but seems to be having no affect on acrylics

I use cellulose thinners to clean the brush. Ive just bought some badger cleaning stuff and Ill see how that goes. I also have just bought an ultrasonic cleaner from lidl for 20 quid which cleans it fine using a cleaning solution. Seems strange that air gets through but no paint. Have u used the wee wire brushes you get on ebay for a couple of quid to try and clean it. Sounds like there might be a build up of paint somewhere which has hardened.

Hi Gells
To date I have stripped the brush right down taken the nozzle off and soaked it in a solution of solvent airbrush cleaner ,held the nozzle in reverse whacked the pressure up to 80 psi
and blasted air thru , still not getting anything thru apart from when I touch the nozzle to a bit of paper on the bench which looks like a bit of capillary action is drawing some liquid out .

Normally if there is a blockage you get bubbles in the liquid in the cup but that is not happening so it looks like the paint is not getting drawn thru in the first place to be fired back .
Got me baffled :(

Hi Ron,

Might be worth investing in a reamer to clear the nozzle or just use a spare needle your be surprised the paint you'll find in the nozzle that soaking doesn't also when cleaning use a back pressure to help clean the nozzle by covering the end and spraying.

In terms of Vallejo model colour, I use these for spraying as well but i use a specific thinner relatively cheap and works with them making them easier to spray If you see the link below for thinner and the thinning ratio should help but be careful to read the label on the Vallejo paints as some of the pigments are dangerous and should not be sprayed as can be harmful to your health.

Hope this helps

Will give it a go Simon as I have tried everything else

I've had this before.

It turned out to be a build up of crud behind (inside) the nozzle cap, through too many backflushes when cleaning.

Inside the part labelled #2 in this parts diagram... https://airbrushes.com/parts_info.php?products_id=26

Right up against the "Backwall", so to speak.

The nozzle cap is not even on ,had the nozzle on and off more times than Madonna's knickers and am sure it is perfectly clear ,in fact the bloody thing has never been so clean .

No idea what to co next

is there any possibility your needle could have got bent in anyway and therefore allowing airflow but not moving correctly to allow liquid flow

I am not even getting any water thru with the needle removed which would suggest the nozzle is blocked ,the needle seems perfectly true .
This only went belly up when i used Vallejo "a paint I absolutely detest" in the words of Bertorelli Whata mistake'a to make'a "

hmm ... well i would remove the nozzle completely using the spanner, soak it in airbrush cleaner or thinner, then get the needle/or sewing needle/pin and work it around inside the nozzle in a screwing motion pushing towards the hole. This has always worked for me as any crud build up gets pushed out the nozzle.

Good luck

Close inspection looks like there is a crack on the nozzle chuck ,didn't see it for paint , possibly overtightened the nozzle . Don't see a replacement part in the exploded view

Great result now you can clean the knickers the next time you change them. ;)
"had the nozzle on and off more times than Madonna's knickers"

Always sitting in the wings waiting for an opening Jack me lad :)
knew you would be around eventually
