If just for priming. Why dont you try Vallejos Primer. It goes well out of the bottle in the airbrush. But raise the pressure about 35%.
It does however take a few days to harden for sanding, especially on metal figures.

Janne I undercoat close to each colour I am going to paint in oils ,for priming I use Tamiya grey from a can
 
I know this is a bit late. I find Vallejo does give a skin when sprayed and tends to clog the airbrush more, I avoid it for spraying.

I use humbrol enamel white for priming through the airbrush, as an oils painter it absorbs the oil well.

Tamiya is a good paint for undercoating a specific colour.
You can do this on top of any primer you chose.

I agree model air is better to spray but recently I have used tamiya lacquer thinner.
This is hard to get and I got mine from Asia on ebay.
It does however give the smoothest spray with tamiya paint you will ever get.
They are raving over it on the afv website.

Isopropyl alcohol is superb for cleaning the airbrush and cheap if bought in 5 litre bottles from chemists on the net.
