The death at the age of 92 was announced this morning of Albert Uderzo - the
creator of Asterix. Obelix, et al. What a man...eh?

Although being color-blind he mastered this job with ease. He made me get into the history of the real Roman Empire and the release of another comic book story was always a major event in my childhood. Merci Monsieur Uderzo!
 
Wonderful creations...... we used to try to make up our own names for family members in that inimitable style. Mine was Grumpius Modelfix. Happy days.

I bought a LOT of Asterix books in both German and French when I was in my early teens. And they helped me learn the languages every bit as much as the dull crap we were given at school to take home and read.

Great books. Very entertaining, cleverly written and brilliantly illustrated.
