WIP Critique Algerian Spahi 1914

Originally I had not planned to make this Spahi vignette myself, but...the idea kinda grew on me. The piece is based on the attached illustration by Hingre. As part of the process I enjoyed learning about burnous cloaks and quenhour head dresses. Cool!

The burnous hood you see behind the quenhour is actually two hoods, one inside the other, one red and one white or light tan. The cloaks are being built up in layers as I go along and I'm finding them more complex than I ever imagined. Fun!

1/16th scale, kit parts and sculpted bits. I'm waiting for a couple of castings before going any further with this project. Bob Stein is helping with the multiple castings needed for the 8 mounted figure projects.

Ulrich and Nap - Yes, it's an ambitious project, but I need something to keep me out of the saloons and bawdy houses of Omaha. Now that I'm retired, I have the time to work on each of the pieces. If I get tired of one of them, I can just pick up another.
