Open Book Almond Models French Marine 1751

I received this figure from Model Matters in Australia last week.
I've heard that this Almond Miniatures is very hard to come across with and browsing on the net i finally found this hobby shop that has a couple of them.
when i opened the box i was amazed at the details of this 90mm figure.
It needed some clean up to remove the casting residue or agent but after that the quality of the casting and details are amazin,i am not an expert but definitively it will be one of my favs to paint.

Hi Daniel. Almond Miniatures was the brainchild of the late Richard Almond. He was an excellent sculptor and many of his castings are still available with a little searching. If you care to you can also look for BARTON Miniatures, as Richard did many figures for them as well.--

Hi Daniel, Richard was a very talented sculptor whose life was tragically cut short by an Asthmatic attack. As well as his own company and Barton he also sculpted for Ceremonial Studios. All of his work stands the test of time and represents very good value cost wise when compared with the cost of a Pegaso 90mm. This is not to criticise Pegaso who are selling into a different market almost 20 years on.

I red about Richard (rest in peace) and i am honored to have a figure from him.
I have order a second figure from www.modelmatters.com.au.
the owner Barney was nice enough to hold the 2nd figure for me and should be on its way to Miami,is a sargeant of french fusiliers 1791.
I will post pics of the open box when i get it.

I love Almond Figures and have a good size collection of Almond figures in my Grey Army. No they are not for sale. But you can find them on on e-bay from time to time.

Not to hijack this thread but, are Almond figures a "find"?
I picked up their 90mm "Buffalo Bill" several years ago at a flea market. Since I'd never heard of them before, I guess they came and went before I got in figure painting.

I agree. I painted some figures of Almond in the 90´s, the lanskenette, the osage warrior and a French line lancer. They are very good figures. Nice review Daniel.I still got the catalogue.

I also have a few in the collection; British Light Dragoon, Polish Winged hussar, Cuirassier, both 95th Rifles and an undercoated Hussar. Very good castings considering the age of the models. I would like the French Infantry Sargaent sometime aswell........dominic

To be more accurate,I believe that the jacket in use in North America

had, no collar.

Not base on the uniform plates i have.
i will do more research,but either way,in America or Erope this figure will be a lot of fun to paint.
I have a great deal of uniform plates and i think i will have to study the uniform in detail to pick the proper colors to be painted.

Hello...It was Richard Almonds 95th Rifleman and Sergeant that got me into and hooked on this fascinating and rewarding hobby ....definately one of the masters along with David Grieve and Maurice Corry.....
