This figure is a dream to build and paint. The clean up is minimal and the fit is excellent. I have started laying down a heer uniform grey, using Vallejos. I will add tones tomorrow.

Hi Martin,

Thes Alpine figures are rapidly becomming the standard to WWII 54mm figures. I'm looking forward to see this one finished. What colours did you use to start the fieldgrey with?

Greetz,

Gino

Gino, the feldgrau is vallejo 830 straight out of the bottle. I primed with foundation white. The highlights will be mixed with 830 and 928, shadows with 830 and 862.

Hi Martin.
Nice start with this Alpine figure.
I agree with you. These are great figures with beautiful poses and great attention to detail. The sculpt and casting are superb too.
Stay tuned for more Alpine news soon :)

Jaume,

I was hoping you might see this post. How did you finish the shoulder straps? I may just leave them in fieldgrey and outline in white. Any hints for vallejo mixes for the camo helmet cover would be great. ;) (New Alpine figures in the pipeline? :) )

Hi Martin
Yes,I painted the shoulder straps as an infantry private. Background in Field grey and white pipping.

For the splinter helmet cover I used Iraqui sand as base colour, adding chocolate brown for shadows.Green with ss camo green, highlights adding basic skintone and same colour for shadows.
Brown was Mahogany brown.Lights and shadows with the same colours on green.

Best regards

Hi Jaume

many thanks for the colour mixes. I will make a start on the helmet this week. Luckily I have all those colours with me at the moment.
