This is my latest sculpt, originally suggested by fellow Pf member redtom .
Her name is Mae Beulah 'Peggy' Greenwalt a WW2 U.S Army nurse serving in the Pacific. At the fall of Corregidor she courageously saved the colours of the 12th Regimental Quartermaster Corps by wrapping the colours around her and convincing her Japanese captors that it was a shawl. After being held as a POW for the next 33 months until 1945 Lt Greenwalt upon release presented the flag to the commander of the 12th QM regiment.
Both recognized the deed for what it was - a clear demonstration of Honor.

The only pic I have of this Heroine is http://www.angelfire.com/nm/bcmfofnm/angel_of_bataan.html

I look forward to all comments and critique.
Cheers Ken

looking good Ken. See I don't only do Russians! although I have to admit they are my favourite. I think this one will go down well and surprise a few people.

Hi Ken
A new surprise and well done.Lovely drapery and I assume that's the flag !
I miss only the elbow- bones makes figure moving and elegant-the base for all.
This is only a small attetude and fast done.
Nice the face from this rare reference material. Good phantasy :)
Best regards UP

Hi Ken ,
This is nice , like the hairstyle , the collar looks really starched , has she got the colours around her or is it a shawl ?

Will she have a hand holding the 2 edges together ?

Really looking forward to seeing this and hope to review this from Minuteman Miniatures (I presume they are getting it ?) .

Keep posting mate and may your sculpting never stop

Nap

Ken,
Looks like another winner, & stepping outside the box in terms of subject matter too - your back catalogue must be amazing!
About 1/2way through Meeting of Generals now.
Cheers,
Chris(y)

Tom, thanks again for the research on this one. (y)
Dan, yes you're right it is the flag. All I have to do now is add the tassles
( not sure that's the right description) and somehow imprint the eagle on her back.
Ulrich, always appreciate your comments and will make changes.
Tony, glad you like her, cheers matey.
Nap, was originally thinking of a hand holding the flag, but thought I'd get away without , looking again now I'm not so sure .Do you mean Minutemanmodels , if so the answers yes as part of their Heroine series.
Chris, many thanks . PM sent.
Jamie, appreciate the comments many thanks.
Cheers Ken

nice work ken with this latest female and i have to admit i like the idea behind this one with her having the colours as a shawl, will be following along mate.

All the best,

Steve(y)

Steve cheers mate, finished or not I'll be taking her to Figureworld so hope to see you there.
Christos, many thanks, glad you like her.

Cheers Ken

COMPLETED vBench update.

Finally completed this heroine of the pacific war. As you can see I've made a few changes , hopefully for the better. The regimental emblem was completed free hand after several failed attempts using lead foil, wire and various other ideas. Many thanks for looking and hope you like it .

Cheers Ken
