The section at the top with recent vBench postings and reviews just looks like a collection of text. It may stand out more if the text was bold and or had a text box around it. Either that or place it off to the side. If off to the side it may be better on the left side instead of the right. Change makes sense if it improves the look of the site making navigation easier. If not it just gives the member little more than a new (but not always improved) format to become familiar with. My two cents.~Gary

Hi

I agree with Gary, perhaps making the difference between the Latest vBench and Latest Reviews a little more pronounced, maybe a tinted block behind every other vBench Post and review. This is my only reservation, very good idea, just the layout lacks a little something... just adding my little bit

I know you guys do a brilliant job on creating and maintaining such a brilliant website and it is appreciated by everybody who visits. And I appreciate its far more work involving tint blocks and other stuff........

Just keep up the good work

Dave

How about this. What do you think of making part of the Pf home page more like a magazine cover? Each month you could have painters or sculptors submit a picture of a recently finished piece. After the first 10 entries are submitted submissions will be closed. Then the membership votes which one they like out of the 10. The top 5 go onto the finals, which 1 piece is chosen by the Pf staff. If any articles are submitted for that month the title(s) can be placed on the cover where it won't obstruct the cover piece much if at all. I think this and putting text boxes and or BOLD print to highlight items of interest might no only inhance the look of the site but make it more user friendly.~Gary

Gary et. al - I really like the magazine cover idea, but wouldn't that be a lot of work for the Pf staff? I admit it would be much more user friendly. Is there any way to make a magazine like lay-out using more or less the present method of Pf reader submissions?

Gordy and staff - Don't get me wrong, this is a terrific forum, but a magazine like lay-out would be approachable and familiar to most people.

All the best,
Dan

Dan, I really do not see such a thing requiring much in the way of work. I belong to the Authentic Campaigner, a site that caters to higher quality Civil War impressions. I think by tweeking the basic concept it would help to give Pf a more distinctive look. I also think that by opening it up to the first 10 submissions would give more Pf members the chance of being the "cover person" for that month.~Gary

Here is this month cover from Authentic campaigner.

All sounds like a good idea.

I've only just logged in over the weekend and was at 1st a little worried as I thought I'd gone to the wrong web page, but once I realized that I hadn't was impressed, I really like the new look, it works for me. Well done to all the PF staff, you are a real boon to our industry and it's much appreciated by many of us.

Kind regards

Tim

I just wish I could see the text about Vbenches

Robin
Personally I liked the format for that was in place for the vBenches before it changed. Though recent postings on vBenches are highlighted it appears to only be for newer postings. There are some that are a bit older that still have material added to them, but they are no longer considered new and do not show up as recent postings as far as I can tell. I'd be curious to see if the number of hits on vBenches has actually gone down, or are members not using it as much?~Gary
