Since I was doing one old Chota Sahib figure in a red coat I decided to finish a second (there's a third on it's way . . .);)

This is an officer of 28th foot during the Napoleonic wars (but then I guess most folks would have worked that out for themselves!)

I imagined (in my fevered mind) a young officer gazing down disdainfully upon the rest of the regiment resenting the dust and grubbiness of campaign life daydreaming of life at home where he could show his beautifully tailored uniform off to the ladies.:joyful:

I wasn't happy with the head of the original so a bit of surgery replaced the original with one of Sid's later ones, to which I added the original shako and a silk scarf for the neck.
I kept knocking the hand holding the sword off and when the figure was completed I was horrified to see how bulky the sword looked when I glued it in position. Some delicate work with the file especially around the handle helped. The original sword knot was removed and replaced with a fine wire/greenstuff replacement. Sword slings made from lead foil.

Groundwork is a mixture of DAS, cork chippings and road-dust and the whole figure painted in acrylics. I wanted a slightly brighter red for the jacket compared to the last one so this is based on Game Colour 'Bloody Red'.

Comments welcome and all the best for the new year
Paul

Cheers Manfred. :)
Although I did a few CS figures back in the day I managed to miss this one first time around. . .

It's funny how some figures just seem a pleasure to work with. I've a couple of more modern figures which initially looked great, but the detail is a bit blurry and they seem hard work. The poses on some of the old CS range might be a bit 'formal', but they are beautifully sculpted.

A classic, I also painted this one in the 80s, shame you can't get them any more.
Done a good job with the brush.

Lovely job, Paul,......I still have a Lord Cardigan in the GA somewhere: have to winkle it out:sneaky: I,too, have this one in the cabinet. Sid always took great pride in the execution of details.

Thanks both :)

The lord Cardigan figure was one I missed :( Pretty sure I've got a Captain Nolan somewhere in the loft boxes though . . .

Another very nicely painted and presented figure Paul
The Chota Sahib figures tend to be excellent, and a joy to paint; as were Cheshire Volunteers.
For anyone interested, Alex Williams (of CV) has started a new company, Poilu Miniatures which can be found at:-

I knew a Guy, who did a lot of research for Sid Horton and his loft was full of chota sahib figures and he was not really a painter.
We said we would house sit for him but he never took up the offer.
