Since I was doing one old Chota Sahib figure in a red coat I decided to finish a second (there's a third on it's way . . .)
This is an officer of 28th foot during the Napoleonic wars (but then I guess most folks would have worked that out for themselves!)
I imagined (in my fevered mind) a young officer gazing down disdainfully upon the rest of the regiment resenting the dust and grubbiness of campaign life daydreaming of life at home where he could show his beautifully tailored uniform off to the ladies.
I wasn't happy with the head of the original so a bit of surgery replaced the original with one of Sid's later ones, to which I added the original shako and a silk scarf for the neck.
I kept knocking the hand holding the sword off and when the figure was completed I was horrified to see how bulky the sword looked when I glued it in position. Some delicate work with the file especially around the handle helped. The original sword knot was removed and replaced with a fine wire/greenstuff replacement. Sword slings made from lead foil.
Groundwork is a mixture of DAS, cork chippings and road-dust and the whole figure painted in acrylics. I wanted a slightly brighter red for the jacket compared to the last one so this is based on Game Colour 'Bloody Red'.
Comments welcome and all the best for the new year
