Hello everybody,
Thank you very much for all the kind words, it's really nice from you all. Merci beaucoup à vous tous.
I will try to answer the few questions (as best as I can with my english).
First of all the painting. Usually I use both acrylics ans oils. This is also the case here but I did use more oils than usually. The face and turban are only with oils.
The mail was painted with mister metal paints and several controlled washes of oils. The leather parts are painted with acrylics.
The blue tunic was first painted with acrylics (including shadows and highlights) as if there were no motifs to come. Maybe with a little bit more contrast. All the motifs were free handpainted with oils trying to follow the light and shadows. To make something regular i cut a square of paper of the required size. To be manipulated easely this square was glued to a copper wire. I than use it to make regular squares (wich are the base of the motif). I Used the paper to put for dots of paint for each square and free handpaint the rest. (Hope you undestand )
Concerning the sculpure itself I did use fimo for the head, magic sculp for the tissue part and eyes and a bit of Duro for some details. The mail was made with copper wire that was rolled over a small pin creating a little spring that I pressed down creating this link effect. I than glue it one by one. It was along duty but I think the result is worth it. Unfortunaltely this only works for large scales.
And finally the most important question : why are the eyes closed ? I let you imagine that all the opinions have been given about this from "he is in the toilets" to the "worst" : "he is having a blow job" (sorry). I was willing to put a little tittle on the wood base but I didn't have enough time and finally this little game about the eyes was pretty funny. Of course when I did this, I had in mind that he was praying or something like that.
Thank you again, I hope I did answer the questions...
I hope it will help a little bit as I've been helped by this perfect forum were I catch so much ideas and informations
Bye
Jean-Philippe
