One of the points that stuck with me from the thread earlier this month 'accuracy vs artistic' is that life is too short to wrestle with poorly sculpted figures. With that in mind, does anyone have an opinion, good, bad, or ugly about Beneito 54mm figures? My kids asked me what I want for my b-day (big mistake) & after searching around, some of Beneito's Napoleonic guys caught my eye.

Thanks in advance for the input. ;)

I've painted several myself, and on a couple, the engineering was less than stellar, but the casting was first rate, on the other hand on the majority they were as goes most other companies.

Over the years I have found Beneito to be a manufacturer who I have to see the kit first before I buy. They have run hot and cold on their casting. The last I bought was the 54mm Conquistador with the cross on his shoulder.......very poor fitment and casting.......back to Chuck it went.

Hi guys
i'm sorry i have to disagree with GuyBUT THE CONQUISTADORES IS A SUPER FIGURE (AFTER RESCULPTURE THE FACE).SEE FOR YOUR SELF.
SORRY GUY.
ROBERTO :)

They are also "big" 54mm, more like 60-65mm. I'll start the conquistador soon and will let you know the fit of parts then.

I painted some Beneito figures... There is good and bad things in their collection, about cast, sculpting... Like Guy, i see before i buy. But some of them are very nice, and are in original attitude (like the celt warrior 1er BC, the roman in the cold weather, the warlord X, XIIième)

Hi, the only figure I paint from Beneito is a Spanish Hussard from the Morroco Campaign, the first thing I was impress to find was the historical documentation and the guide of colors, very complete.

Saludos
Eduardo.

Well, I've done their 3 Captains of Villalar, and it was a joy to do. And I did the U-boat captain bust and that was very enjoyable as well. I've also got their death's head hussar, and it's beautiful - can't wait to do it. And another 18th century one I can't remember the name of and that's a lovely kit.
Although I have to say, their 90mm Drummadar figure was awful. Simply awful. It was a dreadful casting, and the parts didn't fit very well at all, sorry.

I can only comment from experience.

My thanks to all for the advice. As a wise old Italian once said, 'Caveat emptor.', so I'll probably take a chance on MV-4 & MV-72. They might go good together on the same base.
