Wastelander

still looking for an outfit I like forem.

My only worry is that for the NCR ranger, is doing the way the trenchcoat folds and such when he lays on the ground.

Ah, Im still not sure what you mean though. I dont have a trench coat like that to model to see how it would lay...

One trick is to use a household item relative to size and model it yourself and have a second person take a couple pictures.. sounds silly but worked for me when I was working on a highlander figure - the wife snapped some pics of me with a bed sheet ;) She's put up with some strange requests!

That is not a bad idea, something that is similar. Ill try that. Right now im working on the dead ranger.

I am following that el greco minatures link, its very useful. For size and scale I have a few verlinden 120mm kits and I am using them as guide lines.
Im also sculpting the weapons. Im working on the legion throwing spear and a ranger colt revolver. The revolver is going to be a bit difficult, especially with the barrel and the barrel chamber thing that holds the bullets.

Iv also never been good with scale, I might end up buying an aftermarket weapon

I want to ask,
A, is it wrong to use after marker weapons for your sculpt if you dont plan on selling it?
and
B, does anyone know where I could possibly get a 1/16th or 120mm colt revolver?

I knew I saw this tutorial but didn't remember where (the pistol)

Im having alot of trouble with the head, the face of the ranger isnt a face, its a helmet, but Im having a hard time doing the helmet. I know it sounds odd, but it never looks like a helmet, just like... I dont know but i have tried four times and it has not worked.
Im getting the basic shape of the head and then trying to put clay over that for the top helmet, am I doing it wrong?

Has anyone sculpted a head with a helmet? Do you do the head first then sculpt the helmet on after, or make it a seperate piece or what?

Either way ;)

Generally it depends on what have first head or helmet, for folks that have helmet already will use that as a scale-guide then make a head from there.

Im thinking of taking a 120mm figure I have, putting some seran wrap over it to not damage it, and sculpting the helmet over THAT then taking it off after its dry. that a good idea?

That would work :) Depending on your putty vaseline or chapstick will work as well - just won't work on polymer clays like sculpey as vaseline is an adhesive!

Im using milliput. Id rather be safe and just use plastic wrap. its cheap, I have and if it get stuck to the clay, so what, It can be superglued.

its working well so far, looks so much better then me trying without having a guide. Also got one pant leg finished. Im going to take photos tomarrow to show you what I have so far. Im still very worried about the feet and hands, more then fingers then anything.

The weapons are coming along Very nicley
