My new painting week starts like the old one endet: With pink!

The second side of "Artjom's" coat is also ready...:

Please note:

In contrast to reality, all the colors today seem a bit "dull" - that's because I had to put the little Cossack in a shady place to photograph.

Here is bright sunshine - and at the usual place of photography there would not have been much to see except reflections, because the moist oil paint still shines ...

Cheers

Hi Martin

Great start to the week ...pink is the " in" colour this week ...LOL

Looking good like the tones of the pink ...and really is a cracking contrast to the patterns .

Thanks for sharing ...enjoy the sunshine ..it's the same here

In North America a few years back there was a reality series on a family building motorcycles...your guy looks a spitting image for Senior.

..I truly am loving this entire story Martin...it resonates by telling a story even without the ties to the paintings. Which to me is hallmark of success..your passion for this one comes over loud and clear ..and conveys my mental image of “cossackness”. In outlaw biker culture the saying was to the effect Harley Davidsons the best, f the rest..your guy is just that sort..

Today I have prepared the gold tresses of the coat (on the collar and on the sleeves) for gilding, respectively underpainted.

With mixtures of these colors ...

I've dealt with them, which was not so easy, because the things are really narrow!

When I defined lights and shadows like that, I ended up with super-thin outlinings ...

Now it looks like that...:

Gold will then be brushed carefully only where direct light falls!

The effect will look something like my Ivan Sirko bust, but hopefully a bit cleaner and more subtle than I did in 2013 ...:

In the way some scenes, moments, resonate personally, your piece has got me thinking ..and this morning occurred t me to do a diorama of the scene from Glory..”give em hell 64th”. Suits our times

Thanks Martin..am Old and past should..but one “should” is to listen when a passion comes calling. Fantasy gives me the open imagination and entry to learning the kagamusha ways..but this little project of mine sticks in my brain...I can see just how I want to do it..have to start chasing down the right pieces. I want 75 or best 90mm

Nice idea there , great film featuring the first all-African-American regiment, the 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry.

So, I have just finished with "gilding"!

First, it was the tresses on the coat pocket and sleeves.

For this I took the gold from "Vallejo" (in the photo on the left!), because it swings significantly more in the red than my usual gold from "Andrea" ...:

I have worked with very dilute paint and used it "purely" only in places with direct light.

In the shadow zones I mixed the gold about 1: 1 with "Saddle Brown".

Next step: the tassels.

Since I have done something different and have them first painted with "Marabu" -Decorlaque. The stuff is a kind of ink - only water-dilutable and miscible with acrylic paints.

After drying, I mixed the it about 1: 1 with black and washed the tassels ...

And although I have gone two different ways to gold, the colors seem like "from a piece", ablout which I am very pleased ...:

From the front, "Artjom" is done!

What is still missing is the painting of the "invisible side", the aluminum pin (both will be black!) - and then I'll build a gimmick for the base ...

So much for today.

Cheers
