Today's session sees the medals done and the aiguillettes blocked in. I also tidied up the tunic.

Just some small items to attend to plus shading around the medals. Tomorrow should see it finished apart from the "missing" braid on the kepi, which I will deal with once it's done.

Hi Phil

WHAT!!! ...you did those medals in 1 sitting !!!!....nice work there they look good

Tunic looks better after your tidy up ........what did you do ? ...looks lighter and highlighted more

Look forward to the final session and result

Be good to see our versions together I think

Thanks for sharing

Happy benchtime

Nap

PS Reckon you deserve the next one to have legs ....lol

No, it was actually two sittings - I started the big awards on his right side yesterday. The tunic just had some extra highlight feathered in, plus a light brushstroke of Sepia Shade into the deep folds - seems to work OK. Just that two-tone aiguillette to finish and his service stripes, and a bit of tidying here and there and I'll post it done. Feel free to post it alongside yours - maybe we can encourage Pierre to start his:rolleyes:

He will get his due, eventually, old Rollet!

For the time being my bench looks a little crowded with projects for 2021, standing room only:

Glad this hobby of ours keeps us relatively sane in these strange times!

Happy painting, stay healthy and on to the next year,

cheers,

Pierre

A trifle crowded Pierre. I recognise Pokryshkin and Litviak, but who are the three WW1 pilots? at the front? Looks like an interesting vignette.

A gathering of some of Steve Warrilow's many RFC pilots, which I put together in a little preflight briefing scene, the guy on the left will hold a large map.

Cheers,

Pierre

Funny, I thought of Steve W when I saw them. They go together very well and I look forward to seeing them complete.

Steve made some marvelous figures indeed before personal issues put an end to his business. Amongst the lot in my GA there is one of Captain John Andrews, Royal Scots, RFC,1916 in his flying leathers wearing a glengarry!

The Soviet ace on my bench is Dolman's Ivan Kozhedub, but Alexander Pokryshkin would be welcome too.

All the best,

Pierre

Super job so far Phil. Like the little re-work touches re the beard and like the uniform colour. Plenty of detail to keep you busy.

Neal.

Ok all - my final efforts for 2020, a year which has seen a lot of upheaval in everyone's lives. Thank goodness for this hobby, its adherents and supporting businesses. A happy New Year to you all!

General Rollet is now complete paint-wise - just requiring a nameplate, which I will order early next week.

Rather than farting about with rod or wire, I added the missing braid on the crown of the kepi freehand using a No 2 rigger - one attempt:whistle:
Thanks for following this escapade folks. I have enjoyed it and am pleased with the result.
Next up is an ACW 75mm figure from FeR - a little diamond which I hope I can do justice to.

Phil

Hi Phil

Nice one on him , the kepi works well , thought it was actually added

Always good to see another modellers version of something and this looks really good , the beard looks better on yours IMO

Look forward to the next figure from your bench

Thanks for sharing

Happy bench-time and HNY to you all
