Since January 29, I have been working on Athena's modifications. I continued on the folds of the toga and removed the right forearm guard that still holds the spear to try to look as much as possible like the Greek representations, see the photos of the statues on page 1.

For the record, here is a photo of the "original" arm.

Removing a piece of the tunic to make it straight left a gap at the hair level. So I tried to make locks of hair on the model of the sculpture. To make things easier I glued the head on the bust and put hair on the shoulders and directly on the cape to give a more natural impression (pink arrow). I had to leave the bracelet on the left arm, because it hides the junction with the forearm that carries the shield (blue arrow).

To make it easier to hold, I place the bust on a hand drill of my own making, with an old wood chisel handle cut to the right size to fit my grip and rounded with Aves epoxy paste.

A few photos to show where I am at. I still have to refine the sanding, wash all the elements and then apply the primer.

The painting will come a little later because I have to look after my grandson for the February school holidays. Thank you in advance for any comments that would help me improve my work.

Hi Bran

Great V bench to follow ,you’ve done a good job on that arm....brave or what !

Glad you sorted that crest out

Enjoy the grandson

Looking forward to seeing the painting

Happy brushes

Very nice modelling to achieve those modifications. Have fun with the grandson........ 🙂
Thanks Nigel, having put the sculpture aside for a few days allowed me to notice a few more modifications to be made before painting, especially on the spear. It seems too bulky to be used in a "normal" way. I'm trying to remove all the aspects that are a little too "fantasy" on this bust, at least those that I am able to achieve.....
For the moment it's rather legos and "paw patrols" that occupy my days, it's the learning of the hobby for the little one that begins like this, lol !!

Thanks Nap, yes, I make the most of the grandson, although allowing myself a few moments where I manage to escape, but it doesn't last long... but it's so cute.

Wow,very nice conversion Bran. When it started it was a "Fantasy" subject, now it is Athena,Goddess of War and Wisdom, straight out of Greek Mythology and I like it 100 times more than the initial bust.Eager to see what you do to it with your brushes.
Following with interest.

Oda.
