Here are a few screenshots of the net for me to get my teeth into for ideas for smoke.

You could almost do with fibre optics to light the cotton wool up when they fire. That would be a bitch at 120mm never mind this scale.

To be fair if you accurately portrayed the smoke of the musket fire and artillery of the battle, you probably wouldn't be able to see all the excellent work of your figures and scenery.
Take what you see in the above pictures multiply by 600 (average battalion size ish) then multiply by 4 shots a minute (british firing rate) then within a couple of minutes you wouldn't see much especially on a still day. 'The Fog of War'
Love what you are doing

Thank you so much, Yes I was thinking of being really sparse with the smoke just a little here and there with a few of them just the Breech smoke - so just a tiny blob of wool.

Hi W

Interesting question ref smoke ......great responses from others , personally wouldn’t go too mad with it

Nice to see the latest batch

Have fun at the bench

Nap

Thank you kindly Nap, yep same thoughts - less is more etc so (possibly just the odd one or two)

Nice figures with a tease of the massed effect of them all from the ones behind, can't wait to see them all come together. I think the less is more option is the best way forward, either that or a mini smoke generator!

Yes indeed - I have tried the one with smoke coming up from the muzzle - but to be fair it just looks like wool.

So I had a go at some wool smoke - I added a small blob - ball type bit on the breech and tried a bit coming out of the muzzle, but I wasn't convinced as it just looked like wool, so I removed the muzzle bit but also had to cut away the bayonet (not a problem as some did not have their bayonets fixed) I also cut away at the smoke on the breech till there was only the smallest bit left, this is about as far as I would go - just cant make it life like.

Well, it does not look bad Mate, i remember glueing a little piece there , and then with a little clamp bringing that cotton piece up and widen up a litrle.
Yours look fine to me.

Agreed it looks the part, there is the smoke from the pan before any from the muzzle. Once he's on the ground work it'll look good.

Cheers Simon
