Excellent work Al. With the M203 this bust would late 1970 to 71. During 1969 we were issued the XM148 as a trial weapon.

Sad month as we have lost five former regimental members since 1st February, with another former Vietnam troop commander on Sunday.

Al,

You have done a super job on this. Really fine painting, and a great credit to your skill.

As an addition, if it is possible, you might wish to add a bit of 6 0'clock shadow to the face. We didn't shave for two days prior to being inserted, and never shaved in the J - water was scarce. The cam creams we used were a black, a brown and a light green which we would streak our faces with to create a pattern. After a few days, however, it looked pretty much as you have rendered on the bust. It didn't take long before we looked a thoroughly grubby bunch, and stank to high heaven by the time we came out of the scrub.

Thank you for you kind words on the lads. Not unexpected in a few cases - we Vietnam codgers are now in the culling paddock, and cancer is taking its toll.

Cheers
Chris

Thankyou once again for your input and help on this one, i'll certainly have a crack at several days growth using some texture paste and see how it looks,
My Association has lost a few from various forms of cancer as well over the last few years

Here's a little more progress this morning a few days growth added by stippling oil paints and a little texture paste , now to wait for the paint to dry , waiting , waiting !
Once it does dry l'll go back and retouch the cam and work on the stubble a little etc
Cheers
Al

Here's the final photos , refined the eyes and the beard growth, retouched some of the facial cam and dirtied down the figure trying to capture the feel of a patrol.
Also added a final photo of the original painted version i did a while ago to show the difference this conversion has made to the same bust..
Thanks for your very kind comments and guidence of this one
Cheers
Al

Absolutely top shelf Alan. Both busts are superb and are genuinely authentic and accurate. The tiger stripe camo on your latest bust is simply the best I've seen. Well done mate.;)
