Hello everyone. I have not posted in a long time, but I liked how this one turned out, so I thought I would share. It is Young Miniatures B17 Waist Gunner. I used Vallejo paints for the figure- oh and Tamiya for the mask. I think this is my third face done in acrylics after switching from oils. I really like how the medium comes together. What a nice kit- highly recommended. Thanks for looking.
Matt

That really is outstanding work Matt, everything, face, clothes and equipment look so lifelike.

I asked this question when it was first released and still don't know the answer, what makes this specifically a waist gunner of a B17 and not just US bomber aircrew c.1944-45? It's not a big deal, I'm just curious :D

Roger.

Matt, superb painting, great skintones and especially admire the worn leather effect. Many thanks for showing.

Cheers Ken

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the comments. Roger- I don't know what makes him a waist gunner. The uniform is good to go for any of the crew (maybe not the pilots) in the plane according to the references I used.

Thanks Matt

Lovely work especially the worn leather which everyone else has commented on
I suppose Mr Young had to choose a title for the sculpt, you could change this on a front plaque simply to B-17 aircrew 1944 or whatever as this would be common to most of the aircrew with the possible exception of the pilot and copilot.

Well, somehow I missed this posting. Nice work Matt! The leathers are very nice. I also like the turned plinth you've added.

Thanks for the comments. It is really a great figure. I'll be doing Young's U boat crew next. Matt

Brilliant

The leather effects are absolutely spot on. The face is so good it looks like it's done in oils as it does not have the "cartoon" effect so many acrylic faces have. Truly an excellent piece. Thanks for sharing.
