The Battle of Aliwal was fought on 28 January 1846 during the First Anglo-Sikh War.
The 16th lancers made a charge on the left flank of the Sihk line and drove all the way to the river Sutlej. The 53rd Foot followed up in support mopping up pockets of Sihk infantry.
In this scratchbuilt vignette a group from 53rd foot rescue a downed 16th Lancer trapped under his horse.
Everything is scratchbuilt except for the bare horse (verlinden), Rifles(Shenandoah) and heads (hornet). The saddle, harness, bedroll etc were all made from lead foil, milliput and plastic strip, the figures were all sculpted on wire frame armatures,
