It seems to me - are the Normans in the picture with a trading "shnekkar"? Little is known about the Slavic shipbuilding of that time. However, I am not an expert. But it will be interesting to see the characters in the 40th scale.

This is an interesting account of building a small Viking boat (https://www.vikingeskibsmuseet.dk/en/professions/boatyard/building-projects/the-gokstad-boat). If you scroll down, there is a very nice view of Viking oars and the shape of the blades. I have found oars to be a pain, it just takes time and patience to sand the wood to shape!
