I will post here my first "step by step" painting of a figure. It will be quite a challenge.
The figure represents a piper of 42. Regiment of Infantry, the "Black Watch". Metal figure, 54mm, from Art Girona.
In the lack of space to post about the regiment history and about the impressive scottish participation in the Napoleonic Wars, i will leave the Wiki link about the regiment.
The figure comes in the traditional Art Girona package.
The pieces. The kit did not came with the dirk (scottish dagger), i do not know if it was a flaw, but i came by with a piece from my spare parts case.
The face sculpting is impressive and the fitting is quite good.
By the figure position, i tought that it would be better to paint it already fixed in its base. I made it with plastic paste, paper paste, epoxi and little rocks.
The gray is automotive primer; the white is acrylic primer, that i use after making the corrections that the first coat of primer revealed. I will paint the figure as if looking fixed at front, since the figure is on a forwarding position, "down the hill"
The arm with the pipe ready for painting (the pipe was quite a work to put together)
The other arm, with the broadsword
Besides, there is the broadsword scabbard, the dirk and the pack, but i will take care of those for last.
Here, the skin almost done. Still must do the hair, facial hair, eyes and a little more work on the back part of the legs (they are difficult to see, but still...). I´d also painted the hands, but did not took pictures.
A close-up on the face.
A picture with a coin next to it, to give a size idea (sometimes i think that such pictures should always be taken; this brazilian coin is about the size of a 10cents of Euro size)
That is it, critics and comments are most welcome.
