This is the piper from the 42nd Regiment, the Black Watch, from Art Girona. I´ve made a WIP here at planetFigure, but would also post it here, at brutal criticism, to get more critics and comments on points to improve.

This is the final version, if you would like to see the other steps of painting, it is here: http://www.planetfigure.com/threads/black-watch-highlander-piper.49943/

Any comments and critics are most welcome.

Thank you to all who watched the thread.

Great paint job on a tiny figure, like Carl I'd make him a little more upright I can see why you've done it, but it hasn't quite come off by the photos at least it may well look fine in reality, hopefully would only take building up the front foot's ground or lower the rear ground.

Nice job. I think you have overdone the mud on the kilt given how clean his hose are. With the kilt being that dirty, the socks should be totally encased in mud. Not sure you have the Black Watch pattern down correctly but it's hard to tell with the mud (was that a strategy to avoid painting tartan? :)) That being said I only mention these observations because you asked for honest feedback.

Nice work on the painting.
But he is falling to the ground.
If you walk that way, your back is curved (extremely lordose), the pelvis is shift backwards to stay upright, unless he is shot.

Thank you all for the feedback. (y)

I will wait for some more, to decide if i make changes or not on the figure.

I just would like to make two comments.

First, about the position of the figure, going down the hill.

That is the position that the figure comes with! It is not my choice. :)

See the box art...

...now, see this photo of the original thread. The grey areas under the figures feet are the original metal base of the figure, that i used as support.

The second thing; Colin, i appreciate your feedback, but the weathering was not a "strategy to avoid painting" the kilt. On the original thread there is some pictures of painting process. It is my first tartan pattern, so, it surely can be better; but the weathering is just personal taste, i do it on all my figures, using Vallejo pigments (search for my Avis Knight, for example).

Here one of the pics.

As i said, thank you all and i am hoping for more. I am not mad at anyone of you! :D

Regards to all

Taking in consideration the constructive critic of Joe55, i increased a bit the red highlights. The blending of the shadows still the same, altough.

Also, taking in consideration the constructive critic of Colin, i took off some of the Vallejo pigments, to not cover the tartan pattern and give a cleaner look to the kilt.

The new pics.

Hi Filipe,

The one area that I think lets down this figure is the shadowing on the red tunic. It appears to be black and appears rather messy in places. Rather than use black, I would recommend you choose an intermediate shadow colour (half way between red and black) that you can use to represent a more subtle form of shading. The black colour should really only be used in darkest areas.
