Thanks Rob. It's diffcult to find any other Boer War British/Empire troops and without sounding too derogatory to Tradition I was expecting a figure as good as this.

Wonderful subject and a great job you're making of it.

You might enjoy this book, 'The Great Anglo-Boer War', by Byron Farwell. Reading Farwell is much like reading a really good novel, all pleasure, though the substance is still there. Pakenham's history is quite good though a bit less of a pleasure to read than Farwell's.

Does anyone remember the film 'Breaker Morant'?

In the old days-about 20 years ago-I first started sculpting figures-it was Anglo Boer subjects that brought me to it. Then when I needed a good trade name for my, then new, miniatures company inspiration came from this same subject, resulting in this rather obscure name; CIV Miniatures. I wonder if you'll recognize the referance from your reading and if anyone ever heard of or remembers the company if they do.

Ray, first thanks for the kind comments about my painting and thank you for the book recommendation, I'll take a look at that one.

I'm afraid I don't remember CIV Miniatures but I am familiar with the initials of the City Imperial Volunteers. Do you have a photo's of your figs? I'd be interested to see them.

Hello Roger,
It's a pleasure to see any Boer War figures painted up and yours brings back to me some of the old feeling that inspired me to get into figure modeling to begin with. Of course like most things in life I had more than one motivation to start figure modeling; perhaps the strongest was a need for civilian figures to people my Model Railway.

I'm sure I don't have any digital shots of the old CIV figures-we didn't do that back then-but can probably dig up a couple still complete figures to take new pictures of. These old guys are to me a bit of an embarrassment given the 'quality' of the originals though for some reason they did sell reasonably well.

I'll get back with some pic's soon as I can dig up some of the old figures that aren't too much damaged and get some shots of them.
