Looking good mate ..do you paint in running shoes by any chance !

Nice work on the eyes , and the beginnings of the hair and armour

You have done all this and I managed to do the textures on my Rogers Ranger !

Use a retarder to give you more time with Acrylics ....a real mans paint ....lol

Thanks for sharing

Thanks Nap, no painting until this evening as it's a lovely sunny day so outside garden stuff to do to keep my lady happy, but might continue later this evening on some base colour blocking in, which will be in acrylics.

Hi Geoff your knocking these out at a hell of a rate, no grey army in your workshop, what do you use to prime, you seem to get a nice smooth surface.
TERRY
Thanks Terry, I'm just enjoying painting them, I do try to slow it down, even the wife says "you finished another, that was quick".

As regards primer, I use Humbrol Black Primer and have started to lightly over spray with Halfords White Car primer, I also use Halfords Grey primer, all in rattle cans.

Great start on this one. Personally, I would like to know more about the stippling technique you used on the armor.
Thank you, Stippling is is basically using an old brush, with fairly stiff bristles and lightly stabbing down vertically on to the surface of the model.
I use neat Artist's oils straight from the tube, squeeze a small amount on to a jar lid and just get some paint on the first third of the bristles then just stab away lightly onto the model surface to leave an uneven rough surface, don't try to be too uniform and don't use a brushing action, just up and down, as you can see in this pic,

Practice first on a piece of plasticard.
Once it has dried, I left mine 2 days, you can go over it with acrylics, I wouldn't use enamels as they could melt the stippled paint back to smooth.
This is what I have done to it this evening.

P1110833-001.JPGPainted with Acrylic Gunmetal, then Steel, followed by Rust.

P1110839-001.JPGThen with neat Artist's oils, lightly stippled Raw Umber

P1110842-001.JPG then Artist's oils Payne's Grey stippled on.
I have also used the same method on the body armour

this again will be left for 2 days to dry, before further work.

I hope that answers your question and has helped.

Had to slow down a bit as work on the house needed. I had to replace some squeaking flooring, but it involved splitting the bed and stacking against the wall, moving chests of drawers, lifting carpet, etc, then it had to all go back again.
Still I digress, blocked in base colours to most of the bust, leaving the crossbow as it useful as a handling tool.

Decided to paint the cloak in Artist's oils, with help with the blending in the shadows and highlights.

Least your back at the bench. looking very nice.
Only for a few days Bob, I have a commission to do for the Tank Museum. I am in the Tank Museum Volunteer Modellers and the museum have recently received an Elefant tank on long term loan from the US and this is going in the new Tiger Variants Exhibition opening about 6th April and they have asked some of the members to make and paint one of the each variant in the museum and I have the Elefant, and it is coming in the next couple of days, so that will get priority on the bench.
Yes the bust is now starting to look nice now but the harder bits are coming up, all the detailed work, still I do like those bits so happy work ahead.

That's right, it had to be you, managed to do a bit on the leather belts last night, no pic yet, but I'm pleased with it.

Might get some more done today as weather naff and no parcel yet, after I have done your bits.
