Many thanks Bob, the wood was done over a Vallejo New Wood acrylic base coat, then using neat Burnt Sienna Artist's oils I brushed the square section (I needed to hold the piece so I did it in 2 goes, square part then bow part) then using neat Raw Umber I applied the darker areas and then stippled the overlapping areas to blend together, finally I ran the side of a white spirit dampened brush along the edges to remove some of the paint to give the worn look. The same method I used on the bow section except the paint removal. This has come on, the painting of the armour is 1st class as is the wood on the cross bow, how was that achieved?
looks fantastic.
Geoff, many thanks for the info

Many thanks Nap, this one took me quite awhile to do, but I did use quite a lot of Artist's oils on the clothing and had to wait for that to dry before continuing.Hi Geoff
