Had this guy in the grey army for a while now but Ernesto did such a great job of the box art I've been a bit scared to tackle it. I decided it wasn't going to paint itself so I made a start this afternoon. At this stage only the face is complete, I might put a darker wash on the beard yet though. Feel free to critique.

Very nice start Andrew, the flesh is looking great, will be following this one with interest as it is another one that I must paint at some point.

Cheers
Tommi

Bit of an update on this one, I'm finding it slow going trying to get the metals and leather looking decent. I think the metal is still too new looking and needs dulling a bit. The ginger of the beard was also toned down I thought it might be a little more realistic this way and in keeping with the older looking face, hopefully it still looks ginger rather than blonde.
Any comments and critique or tips are welcome.

Andrew.

Another update, right arm attached with crossbow, metals dulled down a little, flag on arm started and some brass added to the belt buckles. The gloves are two different colours at the moment and there is still a lot of refinement to go but I think it's heading in the right direction. I have tried to keep the colours somewhat muted and not too bright and garish.

Any comments or critique is welcome, and thanks for looking in.

Andrew.

Thanks Marc and Carl.
Carl the metals are done with that Mr metalcolour paint that you buff up to shine when it dries, with a few washes of browns and blacks to add a bit of wear.

Nice start to a good bust Andrew. As a Scott myself (a common Border Reiver name) I really must get this piece.
