Hi guys, I plan on going to the World Expo in Boston this July, res. made already can't wait. I hope to stay in Boston till Mon. then head to the Cape for another 3 days or so, even my wife is looking foward to it. I understand this is the daddy of all figure shows! I did a quick search for past expo's couldn't find much. Is there a link or homepage for the last few years worth of shows??? I'd like to take a gander at some of the pic's. from previous shows. Anyone else plan on attending the show? I'm sure quite a few of you...... looking foward to meeting you.

Thanks Tony ^_^

Hello Tony,
Boston should be the Grandaddy of shows for awhile. As far as other shows, Lilliput has a section devoted to European shows going back to 1999. You will spend hours here as there is a tremendous amount of show reports with photograps of some very beautiful work.

Lilliput web site

At the top....click on "Reportages" and it will show a listing of shows.

You will also find in our link section, various US club sites with each having their own show sections going back several years for each.

Hope this will keep you busy for awhile.

Hi Tony ! I'll be there and I plan on bringing some figures to show too ! Looking forward to seeing you then. Cheers !
Kenneth.

Hi Tony,

I plan to attend the Boston Show and would highly recommend it to anyone who can make it. As you may know, this is a world expo show. These are held every two years or so at different venues around the world. SO, it is not to be missed! This is the second one to be held in the USA, and (with the every two years schedlue) no one is sure when the show will return to the USA, so for all of you in the states, its a rare opportunity! Don't miss it! Boston is also a great place to be in the summer, and there are many things (historical, artistic and just plain fun) to see and do to round out your stay by having a good time with family and friends.

The web site for the current show is
World Expo

Each show is run by a different group of people in the country where it is held, though the same "mamagement" group has been in charge of the last few shows. I believe the last world expo was in Glasglow, Scotland. Each show in the past has had its own web site, and I'm not sure if these sites are still around. However, I know there are books with pictures from previous workd expo shows floating around. Suffice it to say that in Boston you will see the work of painters from all over the world - and the quality is just breathtaking! Plus, it's a chance to meet some of the top people in our hobby, talk about what we discuss her, and hang out with them.

See you there!

Great is sound fantastic, make a vacation out of it too. Hope to meet all you guys there!!!!!

Tony.........

Gee Pat. SOunds like you're getting paid ;)

In all seriousness, Pat's right. I've only been to one-D.C. in 1993 and that was pretty spectacular. With the Euro so strong against the dollar we should be able to see quite a few of our friends from oversees this year.

No payments, Lou, though, in the interests of FULL DISCLOSURE, I will admit to being scheduled to have a very minor part in getting vendors in and out of the hall. Except for that, I'm just a rate-paying jamoke - same as every one else. ;)

I'll also plead guilty to living about 1 hour west of Boston. I know the town well, and lived there for many years. This may contribute to my enthusiasm about the venue area. However, in the end it's the people that make the show, and there's not a better group of human beings on the planet (Earth) than figure painters/sculptors.

So, make your reservations and save your money for the vendor area, boys and girls! You're gonna be very upset if you miss this show and then read about how great it was in the magazines! Oh, don't forget to budget for a few brewed beverages and cooked anumals to be consumed in this august company.

I also went to the DC show and had a great time. I'm sure this one will be even better. It would be a great chance to meet a lot of the Planeteers in person from all over the world, and I'm also looking forward to seeing in person all this great figure work that we see here on the planet.

Happy Painting!

So what you're saying is that you will be out our disposal to help with any of our needs then? Ah good, so nice to know the hospitality will be good.

If anyone is unable to book a room at the show hotel, I recommend www.priceline.com. I was able to book a comparable room at a nearby hotel for about $35/night less than the Park Plaza. Just be sure to select "Back Bay" to ensure you're relatively close to the Park Plaza (although Boston is relatively small, making even a walk from the Financial District a reasonable endeavor).

Even without being baited, Lou, it would be my great pleasure, as well as that of the other "locals" (I'm sure!) to do what ever we can to ensure that all of you will enjoy Boston and the show. However, as to awards, you are on your own!!
