Hello all,

This is a Ft. Duquesne 75mm figure I completed a while back. I am impressed with their line and wish they had a larger range to choose from. I always have a difficult time painting blue. When painting, I am always wondering if I am painting enough highlight/shadow. Trying to find the medium between too much and not enough! Thanks for having a look. Comments, tips welcome.

hi sean looks good to me man i think that company is all done.witch is to bad cause they had some models i wanted,i hope some one picked up the molds and releases them again.well i like your fig thanks for sharing.johnny

Yup, I like it too. As far as lights and shadows are concerned, little is better than too much IMHO. Personaly, I think your blue is just right. Good work... ;)

Hey Sean,

Looks nice. I have this one but never have gotten around to painting him. Maybe Gary can give some info on this one? ;)

Johnnyboy,

I spoke to a guy at the Chicago show who purchased the molds and is in the process of releasing them again. I have his info somewhere and will post it for you. He was trying to get everything going when all the hurricanes came thru.

Hello all,

I appreciate your having a look and giving some feedback.

Joe: I don't think you will be dissappointed when you put together your figure. It was a lot of fun to paint and the casting was awesome!

Le: Yea, I agree that a little is better than a lot. I have seen other works on this forum with amazing painting techniques where it "jumps" right out at ya. I will find my happy medium one of these days!

Johnnyboy: I purchased this miniature from the Military Miniature Warehouse and believe they still carry a line of Ft. Duquesne (As well as Michigan Toy Soldier).

Again, thanks for the feedback.

Sean, Very nice. It's a shame Fort Duquesne is gone, the castings were fantastic. The little cleanup you had to do on them if any was minimal. I sculpted that figure maybe 3-4 years ago and consider it one of my few favorites. Though I've painted few figures, blue is probably one of the easier ones to do. For a dark blue try basecoating with a medium blue and darken the folds and other areas where light would not hit it as much. As for the highlights don't be afraid to make the contrast stand out more, especially where more light hits the figure. Great job, nice to see more of your work.~Gary

Great job there Sean. I really like the way you painted this figure and i think that highlights and shadows look quite good. Keep up the good work man.

Keith, Gary, Kisifer,

Thanks again for the feedback.

Gary: Fantastic job on sculpting that figure! A truely professional job. And thanks for the tip with painting. Yes, I do admit that I'm a bit hesitant when it comes to going that extra step in highlighting/shadowing. I just don't want to overdo it. I will get over that hump one of these days with more experience (and advice) from all of you out there.

Again, all advice and tips are valued.

Sean
