British Army Trousers colour?

Looking for opinions/information on colour of winter weight trousers worn by the British Army landing at Kalamita Bay in Sept 1854. It is clear these are much darker than the summer weight article and see references to "Oxford Mixture" as the proper colour, but in paintings, etc... will typically see everything from Grey to Black and Dark Blue.
