I spotted a photo of this amazing new bust from Young Miniatures on Facebook, painted by the incomparable Kirill Kanaev. I hope this will be released soon.

Just look at the complexity and precision of Kirill's painting technique.

He's dot painted the highlights on the uniform and painted the fabric weave and textures on the webbing.

The camouflage cream on the face is superbly subtle.

The guy is a freakin' genius.:notworthy::notworthy::notworthy:

To me it seems we have Life Miniatures and Sang-Eon Lee, and Young Miniatures and Kirill Kanaev on a different planet to everyone else.

What a great time to be in this hobby. So spoilt for choice.

Tony these guys are giving us humans a chance against the machines ;)
We gotta help them fight back, men can best represent "Man" (for now anyway :)

Each of the guys show what is possible & each of them seem to personify an artist's humility too.

Thanks for finding this little beaut.

OK, I know I'll catch hell for this, but without any arms to speak of (and what he does have just being at his sides ) it kind of reminds of a dog with a bone in his mouth. Painting is fantastic of course, and what it there it up to Youngs usual standards. Just an odd presentation to me.

Wow, that is some of the best painting, I have seen for some time.
Must have the patience of a saint to paint like that.
You sure it not a tailors dummy?

oh my word- that is absolutely awesome!
And whilst not to denigrate many other amazing sculptors, this is the face of a real person, not some abstract idealised , lantern-jawed 'hero'.
Wonderful, something to truly aspire to as a sculptor (I know I could never come anywhere close as a painter)

If you look at Young's release picture - there is a original reference:

Incidentally note how real person holds the dagger in the mouth as compared to the sculpt and obviously shoulders convey different posture.
Shame really, just as Jason, I also couldn't help to think "good doggie!" thoughts. I think absence of hands plays into it.

And its a superb bust.
