Hiya folks
Thought since I hadn't posted many pics of my figures recently I thought I'd add this one. (Those who saw me at BC might recall this was one of the figures I had on display there

Figure is the Altores 54 mm one that's been around for a while and this particular one came from the home of our own fair Nap. :)
I managed to break both the swords which are very delicate whilst assembling and so he languished unloved for a long while before I worked out the best way of re-making them. The swords themselves weren't too much of a problem (I used hammered brass sheet in the end with tangs that inserted into the existing hands) The guards caused some more head scratching though and eventually I made them using stripped electrical wire wound together sandwiching the sword blade. A small drop of superglue on the end provided a finishing touch.
Some of the creases on the trousers were a touch deep and too sharp so a bit of, perhaps unnecessary, work with miliput was done before painting. The costume colours also changed a few times before I settled on the box art colours.
The stakes on the base came from the garden although the moulded ones in the box are very nice too.

Cheers
Paul

Hi there Paul

Oh Lord of the brush ..you've done a cracking job on this ...but I think you've missed an eyelash off ....LOL

Nice groundwork as well ..simple but effective mate

You going to the Yeovil show in March ( can't make TM now ..family stuff )

Thanks for sharing and do post more of your great artwork

Nap ( not so "fair" )

Very nice work on this interesting figure. I used to create a small diorama from the times of the Taiping rebelion. I'm sorry I have no photos at that time. Old China has really a myriad of interesting historical epochs and events, and this piece (though I think sculpture could be done a bit more in detail) is very nice, and you've done great work on it. Well done :).

Cheers Borek

Lovely work, Paul. I particularly like the painting of the face, script on the front of his top and the realistic groundwork.
Interesting that you have pointy stakes in your garden ! Are they to keep cats out or something?
Only jesting.
Cheers,
Pat

Great work there Daddy. Those flesh tones are spot on. Doing large areas of muscular arms or legs is difficult to do well. You have managed it though - top job.

Thank you gentlemen

Might be at Yeovil Nap. After all it's not that far away. You doing a demo or just there for the biccies? :D

I tend to agree Borek - There's not many Chinese figures about and whilst I was digging around on the interweb I was delighted by some of the discoveries I made.

Thanks Pat, I'm a bit of a Womble and would much rather 'make' a stake with a twig (I even made a small 'axe' for chopping the end so that the pointy bit appeared scale; I won't tell you what the wife said when she saw me doing this) Luckily our garden has a ready supply of interesting plants from which I can choose; I recently did a bit of a Frankinstein to make some trees by grafting Rock Rose twigs onto Buddlea 'trunks' to get the effect I wanted.
(The mutt takes great delight chasing any of any felines who decide to venture into the garden, although next doors do like teasing him by sitting on the wall just out of reach)

Cheers all
Paul
