Hi to all on PF ,
Following on from my previous review of the lovely full figure from Dolman depicting a Scots Grey.its my pleasure to present to you the first in a series of Mini busts from this very enterprising company who aim is that they:
"Take special care of the manufacturing process of miniature, from the initial idea, historical data research, figure sculpture, mould making, manufacturing process and figure painting.....
The figures and busts are made in various scales and military subject which quite naturally include Spanish subjects ....and thats what we have to show here .................
A Trooper from the Spanish Cavalry Regt Luisitania circa 1910 just before the war to end all wars .
Lets have a little bit of information about this famous and distinctive Spanish Regiment :
A Royal Decree given to Jaime Miguel the Captain General of the army in 1709 by the Soveriegn to raise a Regt of Cavalry .
The Regt fought in many battles the most famous being at Madonna del Olma in Italy in 1744 where it suffered horrific losses of 2/3rds of it strength as a result of this action the Regt was given the honour of wearing 3 skull and crossbones on the uniform this being on the headdress the collar and the horse cloth .
Men served with pride in the Regiment and wore their uniforms with flair and distinction .
The model itself has an air of pride in its positioning , the position he is depicted in turning to the right slightly looking up , really nice and suggestive of a proud Spanish cavalryman .
What is it we are looking at :
Reference: MB-1
Scale: 1/12
Sculptor: Antonio Meseguer.
Bo
Material: White Metal and resin.
Number of items: 2.
The model was received quickly and efficiently in a secure packing the actual model being in a clear flip over container the pieces loose in the pack with a protective material included in addition to a coloured card with one view of the box art
Pieces consist of only 2 this being the torso in Resin (a cream colour) and the actual plume in white metal .
Looking first at the prep needed on the pieces the torso had a very slight and fine casting line running along the edge of the epaulette and up the collar on both sides of the bust ....and I mean fine and very easy to deal with by careful use of the sanding pads .
The torso at the rear undersides has the remaining bits of the casting line to quickly clean off , the torso is sculpted with a base built in , a tiny bit of sanding was needed on the lower part of this to level it up ready for mounting to paint and eventually base up and show off .
The plume itself in white metal , no prep needed whatsoever , I would suggest however that uou pin(very carefully) when fitting to the busby headdress.
