Drummer - I think it is fabulous apart from the bearskin fur effects which are way overdone and look nothing like the real thing at all - shame as the rest of the piece is super.

Bandmaster - As good as it gets. A real 'character' piece.

It is sculpting styles, you like or not!

I cannot please everyone, to me under the brush it would look superb, but maybe that’s me, and I thank you for the comments!
These are Waterloo veterans and you can clearly see they are not the bearskin we are used to seeing, say by modern day guards. They are layered!

Hi Gra

Good to see a companion to the DM , another piece full of details , do like the work on the flounders and the plume as well as the eagle plate ,I think the sculpting style works on the bearskin and on the backpack ...painting will bring it altogether

If I may share this reenactor showing the headwear rather well IMO

Would also look good with a drum ...just saying ...lol

Any thoughts about 1/10 or 1/9 versions

As always the casting looks excellent

Thanks for sharing

As you say, "it's a sculpting style' and some will like it for the exaggerated effects they can create. I prefer the more realistic look like you achieved with your 120mm Horse Guard Trumpeter piece (which I have) and that bearskin look perfect to me. MUCH more restrained and realistic.

Bearskins may be different somewhat between Napoleonic times and now but one thing that hasn't changed is the biological structure of bear fur and you show me a photograph of a bear that's got fur that looks anything like this.

As you say, ultimately it's a chosen sculpt or 3D style and people will either like it or they won't but one thing that is irrefutable is, it's not 'realistic' looking bear fur.
