Hi folks! I want to show You my latest work.
I spent over 210 hours of work on this piece.
One of the hardest projects in my life.
I never spent so much time on one model before,
not even close.
This work was not about fun and joy,
but about complex research of colours and contrasts interaction.
At first I have only idea, theory and faith.
And I was totally sure that I dont want to follow common trend with painting main armor in one color and all piping and tracery in some another (like gold or silver).
Less common trend is to paint warm highlights and cold shadows or vice versa, but its also something usual these days.
So I limited my palette to only black, white, yellow, orange and red.
Everything on this piece is painted with those colours or their mix.
First 155 hours I was working with only black and white.
Grisaille base opened a possibility to paint smooth transitions between pure colours like yellow and orange, orange and red with saving strong contrast between lights and shadows.
In another words, such unique result was achieved by painting this model twice.
Best,
Sergey
