Chasseur cartouche badge

I'm currently painting time machines napoleonic chef d'escadron, chasseurs a cheval. The cartouche is covered with silver fabric, edged with silver lace, and has the bugle-horn badge in the center. What color would the bugle-horn badge be?

Chris, it could be either gold or silver. Being an officer he would be able to afford either of these. The silver one would probably look a little better with all the lace. I'll dig through my references in a bit (wife says I need to spend time with her ) and see if I can find something more definate for you.

Thanks Jim, I think that the silver would look better myself. But, if there is something that would prove differently I would go with that. My wife would also like for me to spend more quality time with her. She says something about I spend too much time with my little soldiers.
