I'm currently (Ok I'm working on a lot but this one happens to be in the center of my table ;) ) working on this figure from Pegaso. An absoutely BEAUTIFUL figure as are nearly all of Victor Konov's figures! I was looking at this one the other day (even had some friends do the same) and the figure's right arm struck me as a little odd. Look at the position his arm is in while holding the lance. Nothing is supporting the lance at the bottom. Wouldn't this item get heavy in a VERY short time? I looked through my references ( L. Rousselot plate #47, 65, 75. Also his book on "Napoleon's Elite Cavalry". Europa Militar Special # 12 and a couple other lesser books.) and I can't find any kind of support at the bottom of the lance to bear the weight so the riders arm would not have to. Am I missing something? Should there be some sort of holder for the lance here? Please point me in the right direction. :(
By the way, the pictures are not of my work, , but off the Pegaso site

Ok, that's what my friend Steve said but for the life of me I can't find how it attached to the stirrup. Was the support made of metal as well? Thanks for the help.

Hello,

Indeed the lance was supported by a cup at the stirrup - this was a leather piece, strapped to the stirrup. I enclose an example, from a Rigo's plate:

(BTW, the same arrangement of arm strap and stirrup cup was used by cavalry standard bearers).

As always, Daniel to the rescue! Thanks (y) It would appear that the cup on the Pegaso figure should be leather and not metal.

Hello,

Yes, I have taken a look at the photos you have referred us to, and it is obvious the painter was not familiarized with this item - as he has painted both lance butt and stirrup cup as metal. Also, judging from the photos, it would seem that the kit has it misplaced, too, it looks too low; I imagine some pose adjustments can solve this.

And thanks for the flattering words... ;)
