Having had a lot of fun painting this Napoleonic bust of a Carabineer General from Verlinden, painted as Louis-Claude Chouard, Général de Brigade 1812. There are some minor inaccuracies in the sculpt but these busts are still fun to paint and affordable!
Cheers,
Pierre

"There's a definitive charm about many of Verlindens pieces that quality painting brings out."

Very true Del. There are only 2 Carabinier busts that I'm aware of, including this one. The other is the Alexandros Models' bust sculpted by Ebroin, which is also a beautiful figure. Does anyone know of any others?

Thank you fellows for your positive reaction.

Indeed Derek, there are some little gems in these unaspiring camo boxes, the Poniatowski, the mameluke, the demi-brigade in Egypt, Davout, Oudinot, Lannes to name a few of them waiting in my grey army. Ah, those were the days, before we got blinded by the "box art" masterly painted by very famous professionals often mindlessly repeating or embellishing the sculptor's errors! But that's just my opinion, not being overly impressed by the artistic prowess of the box art painters of this world I still like to buy my figures and busts presented in the raw as it were, as shown here on the forum by Pavol Offo and Mitch for instance. Breathtaking suggestive box art wil never be an incentive for me to buy a figure, I'd rather compare it to show cooking in a holiday resort. But enough bickering old man, back to the bench;)

Joel, il y a un autre buste de carabinier dans la gamme NCO Historex/Nemrod, BH15 mais je n'en sais pas plus, n'ayant jamais essayé cette marque.

Happy painting!

Pierre
