ModelCellar
A Fixture
The Model Cellar has 2 special announcements:
First:
The SS Squad Leader we 'previewed' some time ago is now in our catalog and available for general sale. AND it is available in TWO scales! ...1/9 scale and 120mm. The figure was sculpted by Kazufumi "Kaz" Tomori in 3-D. The figure kits are resin cast (as I printed the figures, cleaned them up, used the printed pieces as masters, and then made rubber molds and did traditional resin casting). I included a pic showing the relative sizes of the figures. Please note, we will not be doing the 1/12 variant. Also, note: the base is not included.

Second:
Model Cellar (figures) turns 30 years old =)).
We would like to thank ALL of our supporters and customers that have purchased our figures over the past THIRTY YEARS !! Wow, 30 years?!? Where has it gone? I remember the beginning like yesterday. Model Cellar began 34 or 35 years ago as a model kit reseller, selling everything from Airfix to Zvezda. Ships, Planes, Tanks, ...no cars =)). I had vendor tables next to Chuck (Red Lancers) at several shows. Looking at the figures, I was just blown away and got the 'figure bug'. I had lengthy conversations with Chuck about maybe making my own figures and how to go about it. He put me in touch with Jim Payette, an 'old time' sculptor from the 70's and 80's with Terry Worster, Ron Hinote, etc. Jim sculpted our first two figures: a WWI French Poilu and a WWI German Infantryman:
We released these first 2 figures at MFCA in 1994 and Model Cellar figures was born. From that point on, we focused on figures and divested from reselling model kits. Jim Payette was a good friend and mentor and gave me lots of good advice, which I still remember today. Sadly, Jim passed in the year 2000. In the summer of '94 we unveiled our figures to the world in the magazine: Military Miniatures Art and Review Quarterly published by Philip Cranz. That's how you did it before websites =)). It was Issue 4, Volume 1, Summer 1994 edition. ...and it was a totally black and white magazine. Not the exact issue, but here is the magazine. Who remembers it?
In the last 30 years we have managed to work with some of the best sculptors. Check our sculptors page and you will see the list. Click on their name and see there amazing work.

It's crazy how fast time has gone by, and even more crazy that now we can sculpt in 3-D on a computer and just print the figure out in different scales. ...AMAZING!!!
Watch for more from Model Cellar. I have quite a backlog of masters that have not seen the light of day yet. =)). See us in person soon at MFCA May 9 &10.
I hope you like the SS Squad Leader.
Thanks for looking, thanks for the memories, and especially thanks for your support and patronage.
regards,
Paul
