Great work so far Tony. Really coming along nicely. However, I agree with Steve; the Mig Oilbrushers seem a little gimmicky...

Hi guys,

A bit more progress. Shading and highlighting on the uniform done and continued work on the skin tones and blending with the oils. IMG_0904.JPG IMG_0905.JPG IMG_0906.JPG IMG_0907.JPG

Tones are looking beautiful, blending nicely. Q: Did you add the rough beard affect prior to the primer coat on the chin or did the bust come that way? And, did you stipple the Alice web straps? Ruck On tony, lovin it.

Cheers, Ski.

Hi Ski, thanks mate. The rough beard effect is actually sculpted into the face. I did add Josonja texture paste on the towel around the neck to make it a bit rougher, and yes, the webbing straps have been stipples with acrylics. When I come to doing the 5 o clock shadow on the face I'm tempted to do this version, which looks a bit more "gritty" than the clean shaven look.

Coming together nicely, helmet camo pattern looks good too. Tony, what is in your photo backdrop, has a bit of a cool blue sheen??

Hi guys

Several months have passed on this project with no progress but I'm happy to report it's nearly complete. I wanted to capture the look of a war weary grunt not necessarily Charlie Sheen but clearly inspired by his performance in Platoon.

I hope I've managed to do that. Just a few finishing touches and it's done.

This is my last project for 2017. Happy new year to all Planeteers.

Yes, great gritty facial work, coming alive nicely, wow! I'm going to have to try the stippling technique, great affect, natural looking and realistic. Colors are really spot on. And, gotta love them oils!
