The 300 mm Curassier bust that kagamusha has shown above, can I ask who and where it is available from please.?

Ron thanks for that, but the one they list looks a bit different, and they have said its 200 mm on their site.

Hi mate, I think you are looking at the wrong one. They are by Alan Ball (200 mm) and not the one I put up a pic of. Richard Bailey sculpted the Cuirassier, and it is under 'Bonapartes Busts' header.

Cheers

Ron

Thank you very much for that Ron, I will order one now, as I love a big figure/ bust to paint, now the eyes are not so good. Best Wishes Bob.

I'd love to see something medieval this size hint hint, lovely sculpt though both this and the previous one will be show stoppers when painted

Wait a minute . . . in that pic, both faces look to be the same size. And just what the heck does "300mm" mean when applied to a head? This is getting ridiculous!!
Show the bust next to any other common bust, and then we'll get an idea of a size comparison. Or state the SCALE used, not some meaningless "xxxmm" . . . whatever. (No, I'm not going off on a rant about scale/size.)
Anyway, from the comparison shown, the faces are the same size, and there's considerably less "body" to paint on the hussar vs. the cuirassier, so the "it's too big" comment seems a bit off-point, as well. Maybe a better comparison photo would be helpful...
It's still a topnotch piece of sculpture, and I can't wait to see one painted!

Don!.. this Hussar is 300mm. The Cuirassier is 200mm, and has a lot more torso!.. so the head will the the same size as that of the Pegaso.(Both being 200mm) However ive taken a shot of this 200mm (Cuirassier) against a Andrea 1/10 bust! and again of the, 200mm Pegaso head. for another comparison. Clearly the Hussar at 300mm will be much larger than all of these! just a slight bit of confusion as too which is what scale  compare 005.JPG compare 002.JPG

Eduardo,.. In the flesh, there is a notable difference in all-round size, between the Andrea, and the Cuirassier!... The Cuirassier is that much more bigger than the Andrea. more so if you enlarge the photo. Plus the fact that I have not put the left arm, or the cloak on the Cuirassier! with those additions, the Andrea piece is Dwarfed by it. (y) Rons, initial comparison, shows how much more you get for your money, but at the same scale!.. So this latest Hussar, at 300mm will be substantial in size.

A 300mm bust is a good size, The larger the face the less shading is needed and more emphasis on skin, texture and complexion. This looks like a good painting challenge. Does anyone remember Trevor Hensley's mongol bust? More complexion and texture than standard face painting technique and that looked wonderful.

 Funny joke, Mirofsoft, but it would be a BIG challenge to paint a mannequin with our painting techniques. I´m not sure, but romans and greeks painted their sculptures, I think.

Sorry if in my haste to give a better idea of size to Eduardo I got the size mixed up. No doubt someone else could come up with a "Better size comparison photo' using a common bust.

Hi All

Thanks for the comments and interest. Just to clear up the confusion, the Cuirassier bust is 200mm and the Hussar is 300mm. I have taken a quick photo on my phone of the Hussar (Work in Progress, no metal or plume) next to our Cuirassier Bust to show the size dereference, hope this helps.

Thanks
Paul
