Dear fellow Planeteers. We are hoping to have this bust for release by mid October-early November. German Landser 1/9 scale resin bust. Sculpted by Jim Klokner formerly of The Spartan Shop.

This bust will be offered as a German Army Landser and a Waffen SS Landser. We are still working on the bust to include some detail on the base for both German Army & Waffen SS. Also we are currently working on the helmet insignias/decals and small details for the German Army & SS Eagles, etc.

Hope you like him.

Cheers,

Jose.T.Rodriguez

This bust have lots of potential, I would like to see some ribbons and badges on his chest, and a K98 in back would be great.(y)

Working on adding a K98 and other things to the bust to make it stand out more.

Thanks

Jose

"Landser" was a German term for infantryman, like grunt, G.I, Tommy, squaddy, etc...

Saw these on e-bay and thought about bidding on them. Glad someone is going to release them, they look good with some nice options. The addition of decals and a K98 just makes them that much nicer.

The guy is a scharführer (squad leader), maybe one Mp40 is more accurate instead K98, think about that!!! (y)

Hi there, I am looking to do dry transfers instead of decals. What do you think of this?

Jose

I like dry transfers just fine, especially if there are some spares in case I mess up the first one...or two...or...

Adding a hand, sling and portion of a rifle/ MP40 would add quite a bit to the piece. Obviously you'd need to add the associated equipment belts and straps. ~Gary

Gary, there is not a lot of space in the back of the bust for a rifle/PM40. How about slinging a complete MP40 around his neck on the front?
Would that add to the bust?

Jose

Ok, to me he looks like he is in a formation of some sort, doing an "eyes right" or something of the sort. To keep it simple, and to keep from having to modify it to a great degree, I wouldn't add any weapons or straps, and add some of the more common medals.
Perhaps an Infantry assault badge

A wound badge

A ribbon for iron cross second class and iron cross (seen on the uniforms at the bottom, the red, white and black ribbon attached to the button)

And maybe the "Frozen meat medal", what the Germans called the medal received for service on the Eastern front (I'm partial to the Eastern front)

These would be for Heer (Army), I'm not sure if the SS used the exact same ones, or like many things, had their own version. I would give a few different options for the helmet decals so that pretty much any time frame could be represented, SS or Heer.
Some examples

Edit
I failed to look at the bust again before posting, and now realize that the area where most of these are worn isn't there on the bust. But one or two could be shown.

Guy´s just rectification, the bust is SS junior squad leader: Unterscharführer not scharführer like I wrote previously.

The Infantary assault badge or the wounded badge like Jason post is ok and the Mp40 in the back seems cool.
Or you can leave the bust like this only with the awards.:)

Look at the current crop of WW2 busts done today. Many include part of or an entire weapon of some sort along with straps, belts, and parts of equipment. Even with medals and decorations you just have a helmet and upper portion of the uniform and that's it. These extras give the painter the challenge of painting metal, leather and other fabrics and textures. While coming up with new ways of presenting a subject there's also nothing wrong with approaches that have a nice look but are formulas that work. Two cents. ~Gary

im looking for a bust of an SS soldier but i need him to be facing forwards, alot of the busts i see have the head tilted in a particular direction.

even though, this bust looks wonderful.

James
there are loads of german busts facing forward. Check out the manufacturers web sites, you migt want to start with Andrea or Youngs.
If you particularly like this one it should be relatively easy to convert to forward facing by cutting through and re-modelling the neck, don't forget to 'square up' the shoulders, again simple enough to reposition on the plinth.
Regard and welcome to PF.
