A very simple paint job for these two lovely busts. Really enjoyed doing them and another huge thank you to Peter Day.

They do need a bit of work on the mouldings and, had I the skills and confidence, I could have done more but I was afraid of just making them worse. The cross bases that come with them adds a nice touch too.

Painted in acrylic with my first attempt with Scale75 artist acrylic for the faces. I really like these paints and look forward to developing a consistent technique with these. Thankfully female faces on subjects like these do not need heavy contrast or ‘five o'clock shadows’ so are quite simple.

Queen Louise of Mecklenburk-Strelitz.

Nicely done, Graham! I like Queen Luisa particularly. The bare skin and the color of her dress are challenging, and I really like how you finished them. The colors have a warmth, to my eye.

Prost!

Excellent painting on both these Graham and nice work on the bases, especially like the choice of white and gold .

Cheers

Thanks Ken. The bases are a nice touch, maybe not to everyone’s taste but I think they add something to the figures. Maybe more company’s should pay attention to the final display of busts. The addition of bases is more common on figures than busts.

The flesh worked out just as I wanted it due to the great Scale 75 artist acrylic paint. Really like it just hope I can get it to work on a higher contrast face, although I am not an extreme contrast painter so there is hope:D

Hi Graham!

Noticed that you enjoyed very much working in these two busts and you did a very nice job on both.

Cheers,
Pedro.

Many thanks Pedro, I really did enjoy them to the point I am looking at which subject matters I should concentrate on in future. Maybe a swing away from the regular military stuff and more ‘civilian’ subjects. Not ready for extreme fantasy yet though :D
